Thoracic Mobility: Reverse The Day, Reverse Your Pain

April 8, 2020

3 reasons you should incorporate mid-spine mobility into your week.

  1. Balance: between computers, cell phones and Netflix our mid-spine is telling our body that this is an important position to us. The body has a tendency to adapt, and maintain positions it utilizes most. By incorporating extension into our day we prevent gravity and our daily tasks from creating improper movement mechanics.
  2. Shoulder mobility: try hunching or slouching forward as much as possible and try grabbing something off of a high shelf. Now, stand up with your best posture and perform the same movement. This demonstrates that our mid-spine is not only great for our posture but also to help maintain proper function and assist mobility of the shoulders as well.
  3. Relationships: if one area of our body is not performing well, then another portion of our body has to compensate to make up for lost abilities. When stresses become to high the under-performing area tends to be OK while the over performing area may suffer from injury. Needless to say, if your mid-spine isn’t moving well then your low back or neck may be at increased risk.
